Melissa Jean Paulson, MSW, LICSW — Holistic psychotherapist and spiral guide for highly sensitive women

Ways to Work With Me

I know you don’t need to be fixed. Your sensitivity is not a flaw, it is intelligent design. Many of the women who find their way here have spent years trying to make sense of why they feel so much, why their bodies speak so loudly, and why the strategies that work for others never quite fit and they keep pushing through unaware of what makes them different.

I offer two distinct pathways to support you, depending on what you’re seeking right now.

Holistic Psychotherapy & Therapy Intensives

Licensed in Massachusetts & California • Services provided via Telehealth on my Jane platform

Many women find me when they’re looking for a clear explanation for how bad they feel. They may have been told it’s anxiety, depression, PMDD, “just hormones,” or even questioned whether they might have ADD or bipolar. On the outside they look responsible and capable. On the inside they feel exhausted, unsettled, or quietly afraid something is wrong with them.

What we usually discover together is that these women are highly sensitive and have been carrying complex relationship dynamics, with partners, parents, children, workplaces, and most quietly, with themselves. Their sensitivity has rarely been named or honored. Over time, they've learned to over-function, over-give, or disconnect from their own needs in order to stay safe or keep the peace, often showing up as physical health challenges.

My Approach

I work in a warm, grounded, and collaborative way. We begin with where you are now, your symptoms, your stress, and your questions, and gently widen the lens to look at how your nervous system, thoughts, emotions, relationships, health, and history are connected.

My work draws from integrative mental health, trauma-informed therapy, mind-body practices, and quantum-biology-informed understanding of the nervous system and stress. The goal is simple: what you feel starts to make sense, rather than feeling like a personal flaw. Together we move toward less self-abandonment and more alignment with your own rhythm, needs, and values.

Therapy Intensives

Traditional weekly therapy can be helpful, but the short sessions often mean we have to stop just as your system is opening. I offer condensed therapeutic containers because many highly sensitive women process deeply and benefit from longer, uninterrupted time.

Full-Day Therapy Intensive • 7 hours

This is a deep, licensed clinical container designed for sensitive women who are ready for meaningful change. In one extended day we can address root patterns around anxiety, perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, health-related stress, and disconnection from self. We use a blend of talk therapy, nervous system tracking, Heart Wisdom Re-Alignment™ processes, and inner work (including hypnotherapy when appropriate).

This format allows us to move from insight into felt change in your body and nervous system in a way that is difficult to achieve in weekly sessions. It is most effective when followed by integration sessions (bi-weekly or monthly).

All psychotherapy services are offered via secure telehealth and are available only to clients in Massachusetts and California, where I am licensed.

Is therapy right for you right now?
If you’re longing for a space where your sensitivity is not treated as a problem to fix, but as intelligent design to understand, I would be honored to explore whether we’re a good fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your holistic approach like?
My approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I see you as a whole person, body, mind, heart, and consciousness, rather than a diagnosis. We begin with where you are now, your symptoms, stress, and questions, and gently widen the lens to explore how your nervous system, thoughts, emotions, relationships, health, sleep, nutrition, and circadian rhythms are interconnected. The goal is greater understanding, less self-abandonment, and more alignment with your own natural rhythm.

What do women who work with me typically appreciate?
Women often share that they finally feel seen and understood. They appreciate that I respect their depth of processing, treat their sensitivity as intelligent design, and create space where both their struggles and their consciousness are honored. Many value the blend of clinical skill with a genuine reverence for the body’s wisdom and the intelligence of their emotions.

What is integrative mental health in your work?
Integrative mental health means we work with the whole system rather than isolated symptoms. We explore how your thoughts, emotions, nervous system, sleep patterns, nutrition, circadian alignment, and consciousness influence one another. This allows us to understand why you feel the way you do and to support real, sustainable shifts instead of temporary symptom relief.

How does quantum biology inform your work?
Quantum biology helps us understand the body as an intelligent, energetic system rather than a machine. In practical terms, this shows up in how we work with the interplay between your nervous system, emotions, thoughts, consciousness, sleep, nutrition, and circadian rhythms. It supports deeper regulation and realignment by addressing the subtle ways your inner and outer environments shape your health and well-being.

What does a therapy intensive actually entail? A
Full-Day Therapy Intensive creates extended, uninterrupted space to work deeply. We weave together conversation, nervous system tracking, Heart Wisdom Re-Alignment™ processes, and inner work that can include hypnotherapy. We pay attention to how your thoughts, emotions, and consciousness are connected to your body’s signals, sleep, nutrition, and circadian rhythms. The longer format allows insight to move into felt change in a way that is often difficult to achieve in weekly sessions.

Do I have to talk the whole time during an intensive?
No. While there is meaningful conversation, we also include guided inner work, breath practices, nervous system awareness, and periods of quiet reflection. This gives your system time to process and integrate across multiple layers: thoughts, emotions, body, and consciousness.

How do sleep, nutrition, and circadian rhythms fit into the work?
These are important parts of the picture. We explore how sleep quality, nutrition, and your body’s natural rhythms influence your emotional state, nervous system regulation, and overall sense of alignment. For highly sensitive women, supporting circadian alignment and foundational health practices often creates more capacity for emotional and conscious transformation.

Is your work only for women with a diagnosis?
Not at all. Many women come with diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, or PMDD, while others feel chronically exhausted or unsettled without a formal label. In both cases, we look at how high sensitivity, relationship patterns, thoughts, emotions, and the body’s signals, including sleep and nutrition, are interacting. The focus is understanding and integration rather than pathologizing your experience.

What if I’m highly sensitive but don’t want traditional therapy?
That’s exactly why I offer global integrative consultations and Re-Alignment pathways. The Essentials Course, Re-Alignment Sessions, and non-clinical Intensives are designed for sensitive women who want to explore their sensitivity as intelligent design, support their nervous system, and work with thoughts, emotions, and consciousness in an educational and transformational way.

How is Heart Wisdom Re-Alignment™ different from regular therapy?
Heart Wisdom Re-Alignment™ is a guided process that helps you return to the intelligence of your heart and nervous system. It supports shifts in consciousness and helps you move from survival-based patterns into more aligned ways of being. It is used within both therapy intensives and integrative consultation offerings.

What if I’m already in therapy with someone else?
You are welcome to work with me in a consultation or educational capacity, such as the course, a Re-Alignment Session, or a non-clinical Intensive, while seeing another therapist. We stay within the educational and consultation scope, which can beautifully complement traditional therapy.

How do I know if I’m a good fit to work with you?
If you are a sensitive woman who wants to understand the deeper connections between your body, thoughts, emotions, consciousness, sleep, nutrition, and life patterns, and you’re ready to move toward greater alignment rather than just managing symptoms, we are likely a good fit. The best next step is a Consult Call for therapy or a Resonance Call for integrative consultations.

Scope Note Psychotherapy and therapy intensives are private-pay and available only to residents of Massachusetts and California via secure telehealth. All global integrative consultations and educational offerings are private-pay and available worldwide. These pathways are educational and transformational in nature and are not a substitute for licensed mental health treatment.
