Ep 34 | Breathe Love: Honoring Your High-Resolution Navigational System
Welcome to Rise & Realign: Conversations for the Sensitive Soul. I’m Melissa, and this space is for those of us who feel deeply, love fiercely, and sense the world in ways that are hard to explain but impossible to ignore. Here we honor your sensitivity as a strength, not something to fix.
Through reflections, realignment, and soul-led stories, we remember how to move through life in a way that feels true to who we really are. This is your space to rise, to realign, and to come home again and again to your own wise, authentic, and sensitive self.
Last week in Episode 33, I talked about what it means to truly honor all paths, especially your own. And I just talked a little bit about my philosophy of “live and let live.” But it’s just really important as sensitive souls, being in the minority of humanity, that you connect with and know your innate goodness and greatness and gifts. You have unique talents, many which cannot be learned, because again, being somebody with this high sensitivity trait, it’s an innate survival strategy. And the way you take in information and process it, you have this high-resolution navigational system.
And it’s really important that each of us understands what our body is communicating, and what are the thoughts that are coming up in our minds, in our own awareness.
And that’s what I really love about supporting sensitive women especially. The Re-Aligned Journey is really about that ongoing process of returning to yourself — coming into right relationship with your body, your mind, your soul, and with the living world that we’re a part of.
The further I am on my journey, the more appreciation I have for what I’ve lived through and my ability to really honor and hold space for the women who sit across from me virtually. That’s how I work in my private practice as a holistic psychotherapist. But it’s just the variety of women who I support — it’s just really beautiful. And I’m definitely someone who is here to just be a support.
I really see a deep connection in all that unfolds in life. And of course, there’s this grand mystery, and we all have our own perspectives and ways of seeing things. But what we have in common as highly sensitive women and souls is this deep inner knowing. But the signals get really crossed for a lot of us because we have this connection with our inner guidance, our heart, our soul, our higher self — whatever language most resonates for you.
But then there’s also a lot of interference that comes from the external world, because you take in five times more data from the external world, and then you process things more deeply on the inner world.
So that’s why some of the qualities of being a highly sensitive person is this really complex inner world. This depth of processing, depth of perception. This high-resolution nervous system.
And there’s no right or wrong way to how we realign with our own truth. But I’m definitely here to support you and give you validation in the sense of what you are living through, what you’re navigating, the challenges that you’re experiencing — they’re all valid and real for you. And oftentimes others can’t relate. They might not understand the full picture of what you’re experiencing.
But you’re not alone, because in addition to this depth of processing, this depth of caring that you have for others, oftentimes there can be frustration that comes up when somebody else doesn’t see things the way you can see things. And that’s an important piece to recognize.
And believe me, I live this every day as a single mom to my teenage son. I’ll notice something and he doesn’t. And I can feel the frustration, that emotional response that is like, “How does he not see this?” And I myself have to, just like I remind others, connect with your breath, connect with your body, remember he’s thirteen, he doesn’t see what you see, he doesn’t have the lived experience.
And so I really want to encourage you to take a step back in your life and see where might you not yet recognize where others can’t see what you see. They don’t know what you know. They haven’t lived and walked the path that you have.
But within your path, your journey, you have been cultivating this deeper understanding, this deeper knowing, and you have this enormous, what I call, heart wisdom.
And the more often we can take that step back — you’ll hear me say it on the episodes that I record — take a break and breathe love. And I choose that way of saying it because it’s about connecting with your breath, connecting with your heart, connecting with that inner guidance, that truth within you, that authenticity.
Because it’s not uncommon that we respond from old patterns, old programs, whether it’s from our loved ones who raised us, whether it’s from ancestors, even if they’ve passed. There’s that continuity often in families. But when you are the one who notices more, like you have this sensitivity to subtlety, you can notice things that others don’t see — that’s your gift. And that’s something to recognize that it’s your gift. But others may not be experiencing or having that like you do.
So knowing that you, as a highly sensitive individual and soul, you are remembering what your true essence is, or your higher self — however you want to call it. That’s part of The Re-Aligned Journey. It’s like a course correction. The behaviors that maybe we engaged in for many years, for some of us decades, just because of that early imprinting and conditioning — we pause, we take a break and breathe love to reconnect, to remember. That reaction isn’t us. That response could be a pattern.
And I just see it as an opportunity too. The more we pause and the more we notice the patterns, the more awareness we have. And that’s something that I repeatedly share with the women that I support — awareness is always key. That is the first step in any type of realignment and shift. Because if we aren’t noticing something, then there’s nothing that’s needing attention to change, in a sense.
And again, there’s no judgment, because a lot of us — it’s a survival strategy. We did what we needed to do to get through those earlier experiences. But now as you mature into adulthood, it really is about rising above those old patterns, reclaiming your voice, reclaiming your natural rhythm, and remembering who you really are as a whole being — mind, body, and soul.
When I visit social media platforms, which I really don’t go on that often because there’s so much that shows up on my feeds, and it’s very physically focused — and I understand for a lot of people, they maybe don’t have that grander view of what is it, you know, that we’re a soul? What do you mean we have a body and I’m not the body? Or what do you mean about the mind? Isn’t it my brain?
There’s a lot of — I don’t know if “confusion” is the right word to say, but this is just another way to understand how different our journeys and paths can be. Because there are people who we are walking along this planet with who really believe that they’re their body, and so all of their focus is on the physical form, what they can see, what they can taste, touch. And that’s a big part of probably the planet, be my guess.
But there also are many of us who are, whether you call it awakening or remembering, that we are so much more. And I love David Hawkins’ Map of Consciousness — not to use it in any type of hierarchy, because what I’ve come to understand is when you’re in the compression, when you’re constricted in those lower frequencies of fear, of guilt, of shame — there’s value when we’re in it. We don’t feel it necessarily when we’re in it, and depending on our journey, some of us stay there for a much longer time.
But as we breathe more, as we create more space, that’s when we get to lift up out of the constriction and breathe into some expansion — some expanded views and understanding of, well, who am I really, and what am I here for, and what lights me up, and what are my dreams, and what are my visions.
That’s what I really enjoy about supporting sensitive women, because I offer a space where we want to rise up out of the heaviness that we can feel and experience on the earthly plane, and really open up to “what else is possible?” What else can we create? What else can we allow ourselves to receive?
Because I know that there’s been a culture — and I don’t remember when I first became aware of it — but a lot of talk about manifesting. I want to manifest this, I want to manifest that. And *The Secret* was big, that movie, and there were several others. And I know that there are still many who really focus on that.
My own personal journey has shown me that there’s so much more to it than just us focusing on, in a sense, that physical — what is it you want to manifest? Because when you look at the wholeness of who you are, there actually is a rhythm to the thoughts that you become aware of, the emotions that move through you, and what your soul is here to experience. And sometimes that’s beautiful and blissful, and other times it can feel very constricting, it can feel very heavy, it can feel very confusing. And that’s where I’ve come to understand that that’s more of the recalibration. That’s where we’re integrating some of the shifts that are happening. And it just opens us up to something more.
I was with a client the other day, and we were just talking about the mystery of life. And it’s really true — I used to have a view about life and what it is that I wanted to experience, and I did experience all of those things. But yet I realized, I woke up to this grander view and was like, “Oh, there’s so much more.”
And I think that’s what’s important — when we can recognize we may be on a path and we think we know where we’re going, but it’s like a maze. It can take a right turn without you even knowing about it. It can have a pause that could be unexpected. But when we embrace that whatever is arising for us is part of our soul’s evolution and journey, then it just allows us to, again, take more of those breaks to breathe and to love, and to be open and curious.
Whether you choose to focus on God or the quantum field or Source — everything is light. Whatever your path is, be true to you. Honor you. Because you’re the only one who has the path that you have. And there’s greatness within it. It is for you to continue to evolve and grow.
So if you’re somebody who you’re very focused on your physical health, your body, and you’re wanting to be educated, doing labs, doing tests, trying medications, taking supplements — I’ve been there. I know how that can really help us understand our body and how it operates. And I want to remind you that you still have that inner guidance. And again, the more we open up to that inner guidance, the more it can help us make sense of some of these physically focused pieces.
So I’m just here speaking from my heart to other sensitive souls — that the path is very much around coming into right relationship with your mind, with your body, with your soul, and understanding what you’re a part of.
And if this is new to you, obviously you are perfect right where you are. Because this is your journey, and really it’s no one else’s business or right to judge what you should or shouldn’t be doing, because each of us gets the opportunity to learn in the manner that we’re going to learn. We can learn by resisting something and it can repeat, or we learn by surrendering and letting go of the fight and just allowing ourselves to receive — okay, what is this guidance showing me? What is this situation revealing? What is my body communicating?
As sensitive individuals and souls, your capacity to learn and grow and evolve is really, really deep. That’s why that core aspect of being a highly sensitive person is this depth of processing.
So yeah, let’s take a break and breathe love together now.
Just feel whatever support is beneath you — whether your feet are on the earth or you’re sitting on something — just feel that you are supported, you are held. And just notice your breath. You don’t have to change it. Taking a break and breathe love doesn’t have to always mean a specific breathing practice. It’s just you’re taking a break from all of that outward focus, all of that outward activity and pushing or performing, and just coming into alignment with your true essence and this present moment.
So just bring your attention and your awareness to your breath and to your heart space. I often invite you to put your hand on your heart just so that it brings your attention to your heart space, helps you connect with that quieter voice within you — the one who knows the truth for you and your path. Deepening your connection with yourself so that you can live from that inner guidance.
And just if it feels good, you can deepen your breath as you inhale, just a little bit deeper. And the exhale, a little bit slower, longer out your mouth. Just inhaling through the nose, lengthening your spine. Exhaling out your mouth. That signals to your nervous system that it’s okay, you’re safe, you can relax.
I invite you to continue with the breath rhythm and pace that feels natural and best for you right now. I teach about many different breathing exercises, but it’s always important that you trust within yourself. You know what you need in this moment.
And I just invite you, as you’re connecting to your heart space and your center, just breathe in some curiosity. What is life revealing for you? Or what is your heart or soul desiring? What lights you up?
And just give yourself some moments to explore that — what really lights you up, or even imagining where’s your peaceful place? What can you tap into that helps you feel more connected to you?
So as a reminder, The Re-Aligned Journey for me is just you coming back home to you again and again. That you are the authority on your life. No one else knows what’s best for you. Only you can know that. And the invitation is for you to be connecting more deeply with your own inner guidance.
And that just takes those moments here and there every day to just tune in, to feel your breath, to feel the support beneath you, to remember that you’re not alone, that you are connected and supported by something so much greater — whatever you call it, whatever it feels like for you. And that can change for you too across your lifetime. Just being true to you. And giving a voice to your innermost desires and soul.
So if you’re recognizing yourself as a sensitive soul, I have my first seasonal threshold gathering at the summer solstice — the Sensitivity Re-Alignment Spiral. It is offered independently. You can sign up for just one of these gatherings or the whole year. And it’s also bundled with my new entry pathway, *Your Sensitivity Is Intelligent Design*. It’s my Essentials Course. It’s science-informed, and it is focused on sensitive and strong women who are ready to understand their sensitive nervous system as an intentional design and not a flaw to fix.
So I invite you to explore that and would love to have you join me and other sensitive and strong women this Sunday at 5:30 PM Pacific, 8:30 PM Eastern.
Before we close, I invite you to just return again and again to your breath, to your body, to what feels true for you again each and every day. There’s nothing you need to fix. Just notice what’s here.
Where the heart leads, the body remembers, and the soul awakens.
As a reminder, we are here together to rise, reclaim, remember.
And as always, I’m so grateful you’re here. You are so important, and your voice matters, and your emotions are valid. Really honor and nurture yourself.
