Ep 35 | Quantum Sensitivity: Where Science, Soul, and Your Inner Knowing Converge
Welcome to Rise & Realign: Conversations for the Sensitive Soul. I’m Melissa, and this space is for those of us who feel deeply, love fiercely, and sense the world in ways that are hard to explain but impossible to ignore. Here we honor your sensitivity as a strength, not something to fix.
Through reflections, realignment, and soul-led stories, we remember how to move through life in a way that feels true to who we really are. This is your space to rise, to realign, and to come home again and again to your own wise, authentic, and sensitive self.
Last week I recorded Episode 34, Breathe Love: Honoring Your High-Resolution Navigational System. I spoke about what it truly means to honor your sensitive nature as a high-resolution navigational system. I talked about how this depth of perception and processing that we have as sensitive individuals is really a gift, even though it gets really buried for a lot of us. And why others may not see what we see.
When I say “we,” of course it’s still unique among us in that roughly 20% of the population who have this high sensitivity trait. But I always invite that simple practice of pausing to breathe love. That’s what helps us return home to our own inner guidance. Our breath is the bridge. It connects our body, our heart, our soul. Our true essence really comes online when we are pausing.
I’ve kind of been thinking about how, as I meet neighbors and talk to people — whether it’s my own parents in their 80s or neighbors — just such a different generation. And just hearing about how strongly things were back then about really outsourcing their authority to doctors, to bosses, to professionals, to authorities.
And then also having conversations with my dearest friends and just hearing about what they’re witnessing in their everyday lives — whether it’s seeing other people suffer with serious mental health challenges that they don’t know if it’s substance-induced or what’s going on for that person, but they just see the pain and suffering for others.
And then there are those who are on a very deep soul journey. What I mean by that is some of us are really awake in the sense of, I call it, “I’m a being of love and light and I’m having a human experience.” And so I have women, whether they’re friends, colleagues, or clients, where that’s the level that we talk at.
And believe me, there is such a wide range of what we each have interest in, our call to explore. And I always come back to: there’s no one right way. Our journey here on planet Earth — we may, many of us, be conditioned by our environment, by our ancestral lineage, even if we haven’t met them in this lifetime. It’s encoded in our DNA, or mitochondrial DNA coming from that motherline.
But what I find beautiful is that there is so much variety, and there’s not one specific way that we start to wake up or remember. It is different for each of us.
Me personally, I have definitely been exploring all three. I had my own awakening in 2008, where I absolutely got that download and that knowing: I’m eternal, I’m abundant, and I’m connected. But even having that knowing doesn’t make it super simple navigating this earthly plane, because there are these different levels of what we can see and what we can understand. And then there’s that deeper connection that we can have to whether you call it God or Source or Light or Universal Intelligence or the One Mind. There are so many different labels that many use.
And that’s why I acknowledge that there’s no one right path. There’s no one right way. And I’m just really honored to be remembering on my journey, because it does bring a lot more peace for me in the sense that I know I’m part of something so much grander, so expansive and vast, that my human mind just cannot grasp in its fullness. That we are each having a very unique experience of this one source.
I did my best — of course I’m always doing my best, as are each of you. Even if there are moments when we question ourselves, I truly see it as we’re each doing our best from the level of awareness and consciousness that we are operating from, which can change. Well, it does change.
But on Saturday, I just kind of woke up with this download: Quantum Sensitivity. And I was just like, “Oh, I love this.” This really bridges what has been being revealed to me over the course of about 13 years. Because at the same time that I started studying quantum physics and consciousness and neuroscience and positive psychology, I was getting this whole new perspective on mental health and moving away from that whole pathology view, away from that whole medical model and chemical approach.
And at the same time that I was really studying that — and again, it just felt so natural after having had my spiritual awakening — I was also very much feeling a strong connection to Dr. Elaine Aron’s research on the high sensitivity trait, which we know the scientific term is sensory processing sensitivity, which is invisible yet normal. This is not a disorder. There’s no abnormality here. And this research has been out for over 30 years.
But I just found that this quantum sensitivity is where it just bridges. It comes together. And I know not everybody uses the word “quantum” or even knows what it means, but I’m really pointing to the subtle, the energetic, informational layers of reality — the fields that exist beyond what we can see, feel, taste, or touch. And it’s the level where everything is connected, whether it’s through energy, waves, or consciousness.
I just think that it’s really so beautiful how much information is out there that speaks to how different we each are. Because things that light me up and I’m like, “Oh, that really resonates for me right now” — it could be sending me sky high into my excitement. But if I try to share that with somebody who has no ability to comprehend it from where they are, their level of awareness, level of consciousness, just the capacity for whatever they’re navigating at that point in their journey, it’s just not gonna land for them.
And this really isn’t a reflection of “oh, that information’s not true,” because we each have our own inner guidance. And so when I’m speaking about quantum sensitivity, I’m really speaking to this invitation, especially for those of you who are listening. My podcast is Conversations for the Sensitive Soul, so you’re here whether you’re arriving from that more spiritual side or whether you’re arriving more from the science side, or whether your body, your nervous system is just very curious — what does this mean to my nervous system?
This is where I’m inviting quantum sensitivity to speak to the way that those of us who are wired with this sensitivity are perceiving not just what’s visible, but those subtle, energetic, and informational layers that science is now beginning to understand and has been researching.
And this is the thing — I’m somebody who does feel like a bridge, because I got right into psychology and research and education as a teenager. And it wasn’t until later that I had that spiritual awakening that it really connected more deeply with that more spiritual side. Not that I didn’t want to. I feel like I was a seeker, even though the Catholic education just didn’t really grab me in the sense to where I really got it. And that Roman Catholic education and world has certainly had a lot of problems, at least that’s what I experienced in my young adulthood. So that just didn’t resonate with me. So I was always a seeker — well, what else is there?
And as I actually say that, I’m thinking about how earlier this morning — because I don’t know what’s gonna flow through me when I hit record. I truly don’t. These are unplanned in the sense that I’m speaking from my own heart. I am just connecting more deeply and sharing what is moving through me. That’s how I’m designed from a Human Design perspective. I see that, but also that’s how we speak from our inner knowing. It’s not planned, it’s not programmed. I may have a very rough outline so that I ensure I come back to what I had initially started with, say, the last episode. So there’s certain things that I’m learning as I continue to do these podcasts that are helpful.
But when I first started recording, I was literally like, “What’s ready to come through me?” And so earlier I thought about how when we’re kids, how much we are asking our parents questions. And then there’s of course that joke where the kid just keeps saying, “Why? But why? Why? But why?” — just to keep digging deeper.
And we’ve certainly come out of an era where that was shut down. Just like I was saying, talking with these wonderful individuals in their 80s — they came from where you don’t question authority, you do as you’re told. And I can even remember times before my awakening, actually maybe it was even a little bit after, where I was like, “You need to follow instructions.” I felt like that was important. But there needs to be a balance. Yes, we as parents, educators, whatever role that’s in, as a leader, we want to be able to say, “Well, these are the parameters to keep you safe, or to keep you on track,” or things like that. But we also need that ability to be like, “Yeah, but why? Why are we doing it this way? Or why don’t we do it that way? Or is there another way?”
And isn’t that what research is about in the sense that so many people turn to the research and say, “Well, what did the studies show?” That’s based on the people who continue to be curious and to say, “Yeah, like, well, what would happen if we did this? And what would happen if we do that?” And sometimes there’s certainly contradicting information — one research study may reveal one thing, and another may reveal another. And that’s where I just say, “Oh my gosh, we are all so unique.” It’s really impossible to ensure that every participant has things in common, because again, we are — as I view it, and you are free of course to view this in the way that most resonates for you — but I view this as we are beings of love and light who are having a human experience. And so beings of love and light means that we may have had multiple previous experiences as a human or as something else, depending on what your beliefs are.
Because again, I’m not here to say it’s this way or it’s that way. I know there’s a lot of different information out there. Whether you want to talk about plasma and how we’re made up of more space than we are matter — I’m just thinking about so many different things that pop up across my curiosity when I’m looking at things.
But again, to bring this back to quantum sensitivity for me is that bridging of, yes, we can acknowledge there is something so much more than we understand, that research will continue to explore and understand. Because previous research and previous revelations have already been shifting. So this is where I bring it back to the body’s wisdom. And that’s where I really appreciate the research on sensory processing sensitivity, because this is where we’re getting into that human experience that is coming through the body. The body is our vessel. It is our sacred temple.
But when we’re raised in a way that just outsources authority to everybody else, and we’re not raised in a way that says, “No, you are something so important and special, and you’re here to have a very unique experience, and it’s important to nurture that development, that relationship with your own inner knowing” — our inner knowing continues to deepen and strengthen, and it allows us to have a deeper trust and confidence in ourself, in our path, in our journey.
So again, I see quantum sensitivity as even beyond that level of coherence that we talk about. I always guide you through a breathing practice to take a break and breathe love, because when we pause — all of the mental activity — and we slow down the physical activity by connecting with our heart, connecting with our breath, we invite that coherence between our heart and our brain, where we know that the heart is sending more messages to the brain than the brain does to the heart. But many, again, have been conditioned, have been raised in a way that that heart-brain coherence has been out of balance for years, decades, whatever. And so if the heart-brain coherence has been out of balance, then where does your true essence fit in the equation?
So I see quantum sensitivity as the wholeness of who we are, and that as sensitive beings — and again, I welcome comments and conversations with others, because this is something that I’ve been so fascinated and curious with, like I said, for the past 13 years — where I’m like, what is it about those of us who are highly sensitive? Are more of us who are highly sensitive, or all of us — again, I don’t know. I just pose the question. Are we older souls in the sense that we’re more advanced souls? It doesn’t matter how you call it. It doesn’t mean that we’re superior to anybody. I always want to be clear about that. It’s just we’re the ones who can feel things, sense things, process things deeper. So we may be the ones who are getting overwhelmed faster. But when we get ourselves to a place where we’re actually honoring our needs, then we come back to being in alignment — mind, body, and soul.
So for me, quantum sensitivity is about that wholeness of who we are. That realignment within ourselves where we trust our own inner knowing and we’re nurturing that development. That’s why it’s the path of realignment. And that’s why my whole brand is called The Re-Aligned Journey — because it’s an ongoing experience that we go deeper. And that’s why I also use words like “I’m a spiral guide” — to just help people from whatever angle they’re coming from, whether it’s their body and their health challenges, because I’ve been there, I’ve lived it. Infertility, strep and gut issues from the very beginning of my life. And I could view that as that was because I’m a highly sensitive person — all that stuff hit me more deeply and impacted my health — and then the Epstein-Barr virus and Hashimoto’s, all these things, and point at it from a physical level. Or I could say, “Oh, what was going on in the consciousness of those around me and the collective consciousness that my mind was imprinted this way so that these symptoms showed up?” And then there’s the question of, “Oh, okay, and what’s partly because my soul signed up for this type of journey?”
I find these kinds of deeper questions so fascinating. And I love it when I am working with another sensitive woman who’s like, “Yeah, I feel that way too. Or yeah, I wanna understand that.” Or again, some of them question what they do as crazy, and it’s just like, “No, you’re not crazy. You’re just not in the normal mask consciousness, that more group collective consciousness. You are thinking outside of that, and that’s what I find is really powerful and beautiful.” And so much good can come.
But I also want to acknowledge that those of us who are sensitive and feeling into these old patterns and the pain — and again, being sensitive individuals, that differential susceptibility, the pain hits hard. But I think that’s part of this quantum sensitivity, because it does allow us to rise up out of it as we come into right relationship with our mind, our body, our soul.
And so again, this is just my invitation for you to explore quantum sensitivity. And that blog — I’ll put the link in the show notes if you’d like to read it. But yeah, this is just an invitation to be more curious about your own path. Because I know a lot of listeners like the referencing to the nervous system, because stress is a driver for a lot of our health problems. But it can also be the thing that draws us more inward to start asking those questions again, like, “Why? Why am I going through this experience again?” Or “Why is this happening to me?” is what most of us say. And it doesn’t have to be from a victim mindset. “Why is this happening to me?” — that’s a more open question towards the possibility side of things. And that’s what I love about vantage sensitivity, because that speaks to how, as highly sensitive individuals, the positive is so supportive to us. And that’s why I really invite you to be sure that you have people in your life who you can talk about the things that light you up, whether you can go do them if they’re physical things, or just conversations.
And that’s why my offerings are here, because it gives highly sensitive women a place to come and say, “Oh yeah, I get to talk about that too. I’m not just living in what this physical reality that we’re so mostly focused on.” It’s an invitation to say, “Come on. Come into the quantum sensitivity realm where there’s so much.” And again, that’s where I say I’m a spiral guide — not because I’m gonna tell you what’s true for you, but because I’m gonna hold that space. I’m going to bring my coherence into that circle with you so that you feel it. You tap into it. You share from that. That’s what I love.
Well, I realize I mentioned the “take a break and breathe love,” but we haven’t done that. So maybe this is a good time for us to… Yeah, let’s, you know what? I want to invite you, again, if you’re in a safe place where you can rub your hands together, I invite you to just start rubbing your hands together and just feel the sensations come into your body. Just feel the warmth, the friction, whatever may be there for you. Maybe your hands are cold, whatever’s going on, but just feel the sensations as you rub your hands together.
And I invite you to just slow the movement down gradually and just separate those hands just enough where you feel that electrical energy moving through — that love and light moving through your fingers. I invite you to put one hand on your heart and the other on your belly, or anywhere that your body may be calling for some extra loving attention.
And then just take a nice deep inhale through your nose, however deep you can, and then take another inhale through the nose, whatever your capacity is. And then a nice long exhale out your mouth — whether that’s sighing, sighing, or blowing out a candle — really just honor what you need right now. Because again, I’m guiding you back to where you can trust in you and your own inner guidance. Because it’s there. It’s always been there for us all. We just haven’t always tuned into it, because we either didn’t know it was there, we didn’t know what it meant, we didn’t know how to communicate. So this is just an invitation for you to tune into you.
Maybe as you’re breathing deeply, even focus on your heart. Focus on a spark within your heart. And just as you breathe in through your nose, just imagining light just filling up that heart space. And on the exhale, you’re just releasing and relaxing. And on that inhale, more love and light is just filling up, traveling through all the cells and all the space in your body. And again, on that exhale, just releasing, relax, let go.
And then on this final deep inhale, just imagine all of that love and light has expanded, and there’s this sphere that is filled with love and light holding you right where you are. And again, you’re exhaling, and you are releasing any tension, and you are realigning with you. Your heart space carries so much infinite intelligence and wisdom that is always there for you.
So if this episode has resonated with you, again, I invite you to explore my new blog, Quantum Sensitivity and the Path of Realignment. I invite you to see how my Essentials Course, Your Sensitivity Is Intelligent Design, resonates for you. And I want to say that come the autumn equinox, I have a new offering for those who are interested more in walking the path with me. The Essentials Course is still available as self-paced, but I’m also including monthly gatherings — well, actually every two weeks — and the opportunity to work with me one-on-one, just because I just know how much more personalized, and they appreciate that one-on-one, and how much they love hearing from other women in the group setting, because it just helps you to know you’re not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you. There’s nothing to fix. And this Essentials Course is just to bring that educational piece that we don’t get as highly sensitive individuals, because it’s not fully recognized. So it’s the information that helps us realign.
Where the heart leads, the body remembers, and the soul awakens.
As a reminder, we are here together to rise, reclaim, remember.
And as always, I’m so grateful you’re here. You are so important, and your voice and presence truly matters.
And so, like I said, if you’d like to walk this sensitive and strong path with me, you can explore everything at realignwithmelissa.com.
Take good care of you. Much love and light.
