Ep 41 | Infinite Value: Reclaiming Inner Authority from Inherited Patterns and Spiritual Amnesia
Welcome to Rise and Realign. Conversations for the sensitive soul. I'm Melissa, and this space is for those of us who feel deeply, love fiercely, and sense the world in ways that are hard to explain, but impossible to ignore. Here, we honor your sensitivity as a strength, not something to fix. Through reflections, realignment, and soul-led stories, we remember how to move through life in a way that feels true to who we really are. This is your space to rise, to realign, and to come home again and again to your own wise, sensitive, authentic self.
So last week, Episode 40, Divine Human Beings: Permission to Rest, Discern, and Breathe Love. I reflected on density, disconnection, and the unique soul curriculum that guides each of us. It's about honoring our sensitivity in multiple ways, but I definitely touched on how as sensitive souls, being those who feel more deeply, judgment and criticism really does impact us very strongly.
So today, what's on my heart is, again, just really wanting to keep reminding you that you are here for your own divine purpose and path. Each and every one of us has this infinite value. It's not contingent upon what our upbringing was or is. It's not contingent upon our educational level, our social status, our income, our credentials. It really is important to know that we are truly each here to have very unique and different experiences.
And it's not uncommon for us to be unaware of the blinders that we may wear during certain parts of our journey. And for some people, maybe their whole journey. But that's the really cool thing, is that we are all so different. And the more we can recognize the vastness of each of our experiences, the more we can open up to how there's just infinite possibilities for each of us to experience as we navigate on this earthly plane.
So I speak about and to sensitive souls. I support sensitive and strong women in my holistic psychotherapy practice through embodied somatic therapy intensives and integrative health consulting. And then I also offer additional services that are accessible globally because I am a licensed clinical social worker in Massachusetts, California, and Arizona, three places where my heart has felt at home the most.
But what this really is, is me speaking to you wherever you are on your journey, and to just remind you that what I call the realigned journey is really about how we navigate through some really thick, heavy stuff that makes us question and doubt ourselves. Whether we feel or sense judgment or criticism from others, or even recognizing that it comes from within us.
And my curiosity, my fascination with the mind, with the body, with our soul, with our wholeness, is always about coming back to what are we carrying that is not ours. We each inherited, when we came through into these physical forms, we inherited genetic makeup. We inherited genetic tendencies. We inherited the beliefs, the level of consciousness. We just inherited so much and took on so much in those early years. And most of us have what some people call spiritual amnesia, where we come in not remembering that we have this eternal nature to us.
And again, I am here to honor each and every one of your paths, because whether you're waking up to that nature young, like I absolutely love supporting young adult women, the connection that is still present, but perhaps has been pushed to the side because trusting others, whether it's our parents, the professionals in our lives, we sometimes unknowingly defer our inner authority, our inner guidance, to those we love, to those we trust, not understanding necessarily that those who have come before us, or even those who come around the same time as us, don't know what it feels like to be in your body, to have your experiences.
And your experiences are not limited to what you physically have lived through in this lifetime so far. We truly are inheriting patterns from our parents, our caregivers, society, whatever culture we're born into. And some of us don't resonate with the messages and we know it early on, but we're still kind of being herded. We're sheep being herded. And so we then question our own inner guidance. And as sensitive souls, that inner guidance isn't something that we can ignore. But it doesn't always make sense when we're making choices if we're only looking at things from the earthly plane.
So this is why I continue to invite you to really take a step back from your life. Take a break and breathe love, as I call it, to really see the bigger picture of what aspects of your day-to-day life are really from old patterns that may not be serving you anymore. Maybe never even did. But it's something that you were kind of nurtured into, whether it was school, your family, your culture. You just kind of bought into, well, this is what everybody does, this is what I do.
This is an invitation for you to realize that you are here to live your very own unique and magnificent journey. And to notice through that sensitivity that you've been gifted with, notice how it feels in your body when you judge yourself, when you judge your path, when you judge your past decisions.
And again, I speak from my own lived experience. I know it's not easy to have a sensitive nervous system where you feel more, you sense more. You can literally tap into the subtleties in the invisible realm too. And each of us have our own natural gifts in these areas. Some more than others. But again, there's no comparison, because we each have infinite value. We each truly matter in this evolutionary process of becoming more and more of our true selves, of waking up out of the old patterns, the old conditionings, taking the blinders off or gradually just widening the view.
Now, what I really want to say is that sometimes we may come across things in a course or on social media, in research, whatever it may be, where we're like, oh, I just need to do that, that works. And then we may do whatever that recommendation was, whether that was to rewire your neuropathways, to think in a more positive way, or whether that's physical fitness, trying to get your body to look or feel a certain way, or again, opening and really attuning to your own soul's guidance, your higher self, the higher mind, whatever you choose to call it. Christ consciousness, there's many words that describe the same or similar idea or concept.
And so it is important that you're true to you. Because the human mind can only grasp so much, and it really can't grasp the vastness of all that there is. And that's where the realigned journey is about bringing you back home to you, to what's true for you, so that you can tune in to hear your own inner guidance, the wisdom of your eternal nature, that divine experience of life, your divine spark that's within your heart. You've heard me say that before.
And what's interesting, I find, is that this journey being what I recognize as a spiral, it's not a linear path that we walk, although it's very common that we view it as one step in front of the other, and we're just going in one direction, and we're only going forward. When we understand it's a spiral, and even if you think of the old films, we're watching the film as if it's one frame after the other, but how was it really? It's in a spiral. It's rolled. And so when we understand that we're living our lives and we're revisiting similar experiences so that we can process them on a different level, that allows us to keep continuing in our evolutionary growth. That becoming, that elevating our consciousness to understand life in a whole new way.
And I just have to say that what I have found as the most supportive and most profound on my journey is, again, I'm always going to be grateful for Dr. Elaine Aron and her research and her vulnerability for sharing about her own personal journey, to help so many of us, especially those of us who are also in the helping field, whether it's as a therapist, as a nurse, a doctor, I mean, there's so many of us in the helping field. And even the healing arts, there's so many. But her research just helped me to want to understand, what does it mean to have a more finely tuned nervous system? What does that mean? And how do I realign with what is for my highest and greatest good, so that I can experience more love and more light, more laughter, more joy, more peace, and truth? These are definitely higher principles that I have been aligning with since I had the spiritual awakening, that soul remembrance back in 2008.
But what I really want to impart is that it truly is a journey. It's not like we have this profound shift and everything changes. And granted, I had the physical experience in my awakening where all of a sudden my body was in just complete and perfect health. But that was a window of time that I received, and that major shift in consciousness, that expanded awareness and understanding that I, as we all are, eternal, abundant, and connected. But I didn't quite understand what that meant back then and how to live life aligned with those truths.
So it's taken the time that it's taken for me to unravel all of the things that my nervous system was so wound up by. I've referenced multiple times that I saw myself as a high-strung person, maybe Type A, I don't know. But the thing is, really understanding the communication from our nervous system. And even through my quantum biology for health training and integrative mental health trainings, just understanding on a cellular level and a mitochondrial level, the particles, the waves, there's so much that we can immerse ourselves in and understanding on these smaller and smaller levels. I've done other podcasts on quantum sensitivity, I just think it's fascinating, but I have to keep coming back to what really is central to how I support women, sensitive and strong women, is to keep coming back to your breath. Keep coming back to your body. Keep coming back to what your nervous system is receiving, and what those old messages are that are getting triggered, that you're feeling through your emotions.
And for as long as I can remember, I have held the space where women cry, and then apologize for crying. You never need to apologize for crying. That is so essential to your well-being. That is your nervous system communicating. That is energy in motion. Emotion is being evoked because your nervous system is letting you know there's something there that's moving, and it may have been suppressed for decades.
And so that's why the realigned journey, I see, it is about healing and remembering. It's about releasing and becoming. And it is a journey. It's not like you just sign up for a course or you sign up for a few sessions. It's really about returning. And that spiral means we keep returning to the truth of who we are. And we keep facing those challenges that we've lived through, whether it's impressions and imprints that we received early on, or things that we've even experienced more recently in our adult lives.
The point is, you are worthy and deserving of seeing the good in yourself, seeing your infinite value. And I am one among countless others who are here to remind you that you are a divine human being. You are this divine spark of love and light that your heart is guiding you from. Our hearts have the largest electromagnetic field. Electricity is running through us. Taking a break and breathing love, not just once a day, but across our day, especially as sensitive souls, our deep empathy, our ability to feel compassion for others, all of that is such a profound gift. And we need to tend to ourselves, because we can be depleted, and then we don't really serve anybody.
So let's take a break and breathe love together now. If this is your first time, I just want you to know that there's no expectations. Taking a break and breathe love is however it feels truest for you. I may guide a certain type of breath practice, but the point is that it's a moment for you to pause. For you to connect with your breath, your body, your heart. To create that space so that you can hear the voice, that very soft voice of your higher self, your soul, Christ consciousness again, whatever you feel most resonant with.
But I invite you now to place at least one hand on your heart. You can place the other hand on your heart as well, or if there's another part of your body that needs some loving attention, I invite you to put that second hand there. And just take a nice, slow, deep inhale through your nose. No particular count, just inhale as deeply as you can. And then just go ahead and exhale out your mouth. Long and slow.
This time, if you'd like to do a double inhale, you just inhale deeply through your nose, and that second inhale can just be a short, just enough to expand the airways and the lungs a little bit more, and exhale again, long and slow out your mouth. Again, always honor your pace, your rhythm, what your body is communicating it needs. Listen to yourself more than you listen to me and my words.
So I invite you to continue taking those longer deep inhales if they feel good. And then that nice slow exhale out your mouth. I even invite you to just allow your breath to move at its own pace. And just notice the sensations you feel in your nostrils as you inhale, feel it touching the roof of your mouth. Then even exhaling out your nose. What do you notice on the exhale through your nose? Again, just connecting you more with that divine spark within your heart. Allowing more love and light to just spread throughout all the cells, all the particles, all the space that's within you.
And just know that the more you take a break and breathe love, you're not only realigning with your truth, your inner wisdom and guidance, you're also creating ripples of love, of light, of peace out to those around you. Out to all of us around you.
And I invite you to take a moment and even think about how, if you are carrying any judgment towards yourself or towards another, any criticism that's still lingering, to notice how that feels in your body. That judgment is harmful to you, especially if the judgment is self-judgment. But if you're also judging someone else or having fear about somebody else judging you, recognize that that judgment, those sensations, that frequency, that's operating inside of you.
So I do encourage you to take a break and breathe love each and every day, as many times as you feel called to. And allow yourself to feel the feelings that come up. Whatever they are, it's important that you allow the space for them to move. Allow those tears to be released out your tear ducts and allow them to just roll onto your cheeks, down your face. Those are releasing those stressful hormones, and they're releasing oxytocin and allowing you to relax more. That releasing is so key.
Well, I always encourage you to weave this into your first morning rituals. And if you don't have any morning rituals, I certainly encourage you to start with a breathing practice. Write it on a sticky note next to your bed. Take a break and breathe love, and you decide what breathing sequence or practice feels best to you in that moment. Some days it may be box breathing, 5-5-5-5. Other days, it might be that physiological sigh, a double inhale, exhale. Other times it might be 4-7-8 breathing. Again, there's no one right way for any of us, or even for our whole journey. It is the realigned journey so that you keep coming back to you and what do you need? What's true for you in that moment?
So if you're recognizing yourself, maybe for the first time as a sensitive woman, I just want you to know there's many pathways to join me, obviously. There's this weekly podcast. I include a Rise and Realign podcast newsletter on LinkedIn, and also my website. And I also support women one on one, whether it's as a holistic psychotherapist, doing therapy intensives, as an integrative health consultant, realignment sessions. There's so many different ways. I just feel so privileged and honored to support sensitive women and their families.
So I just want you to know, it's always, always wonderful to hear from you and how I might assist you. So before we close, I invite you to return to your breath. To your body. To what feels true for you right now. There's nothing you need to fix. Just notice what's here.
Where the heart leads, the body remembers, and the soul awakens. As a reminder, we are here together to rise, reclaim, remember. And as always, I'm super grateful that you're here. You have infinite value, your voice, your presence, it all matters. And if you'd like to walk this sensitive and strong path with me, feel free to visit realignwithmelissa.com.
Take good care of you. Much love and light.
